Swim Lessons

Due to Congress passing the social security tax cut extension, the Wenck family was able to join the YMCA. (you might laugh, but that is a totally true statement).

Anyway, we signed the boys of for swim lessons.  This is Archer's first round of swim lessons without Mom or Dad being in the pool too.  To say he loves swim lesson is a HUGE understatement!  HE LOVES LOVES LOVES them.  He is wearing a smile the entire 40 mins.

The other great thing about these particular round of lessons is that both boys are in lessons at the same time.  The thing I like is that I can squeeze in a 30 mins workout while the boys are in lessons.

This first video is of Archer.  Christian is with the class in the background.

This video is of Christian's class.

The cherry on top of the YMCA sundae is that our buddy Landon and his family joined the Y too.  That means the mommies get to join each other for workouts while the boys get to play and take swim classes and do lots of fun stuff together....win-win-win!  We had a meet up night two weeks ago.  Corrie and I jumped in on a mat Pilate class while the boys played.   The boys had a super great time and I was pretty sore.

First Video Blog - Why I blog

So my topic is taken from Jenn over at Mayhem Mania where she asks the question "Why do I blog".

I thought I would try out video blogging and show you a little of why I blog.

Video Blog Jan 2011 from teri wenck on Vimeo.

This is my first blog book, but I'm hoping to get more.  This first book starts in August of 2007 and goes through December.  I am hoping to have one printed for each year.

Editors commentary:
If I sound a little stuffed up it is because I'm having a little fight with the cedar.
If you are wondering why you can only see my hands and not my face, well it is early on a Saturday morning and I'm just now having my coffee, not exactly video ready.
I noticed that using the iphoto booth from the imac makes the book appear to be a mirror image.

Christian received a camera from Santa this year.  We have been having some fun with it and our new computer.

Storytime

Christian loves to read and now he loves to pretend. He has started to tell stories. I took a few videos of his stories. If you double click on the inserted picture it should take you to the picasa folder that contains all the videos.

All his stories start "Once upon a time, a long time ago.." and the usually include something about a tickle monster (that is from Daddy), sometimes they are about Larryboy too and one of them is about a Giant with a big tail. At some point in the stories someone is usually sleeping too.

From the videos you can tell Archer loves these stories too.

And if you got nervous watching one of those videos, I promise no one got hurt.

Christmas Morning video

For those true blog fans I have uploaded the video from Christmas morning. It is about 9 mins long and includes Christian first seeing his toys on Christmas morning, his reaction to opening more presents and his parent struggling to take his toys out of the packaging.

The games we play

Christian and I have a little game we play when we are driving home from daycare. It reminds me of the game we used to play with my niece Stacy (Aunt Sassy to Christian). We would ask Stacy what sounds the animals made and she would repeat them. I think he favorite was "What does the horse say?", her answer "Na-Na!"...just like her nickname. Christian and I play this game now and he really seems to like it. Christian's horse is more like a whinny that a horse would make. I throw in a few different sounds to stir things up a bit. We will see if you can make out the last sound. I will show the answer at the very bottom of this post if you need help translating.

The very last one is "What does Lightin' say?" and the answer is "I am speed".

Telephone

Christian is learning what the telephone is all about. He has started to pick up play phones and use them just like Mommy and Daddy does. He talks to Aunt Sassy quite a lot about her big truck. Today Christian's Daddy called him from the couch. Here is what followed.
