a funny

Christian said something funny last night.

Archer was crying while he was on the floor. I was in one room, Chris in another and Christian was playing with stamps at his play table.

Christian said "I hear ya Archer, I'm comin'."

Now why did this make me literally laugh out loud? Because I say that to Archer on a regular basis. Nothing like a 3 year old recorder to bring your words back at you.

Comparison

They almost don't look like the same baby.

new found wonders

Archer is very mobile these days. He is pretty quick too, like his big brother was.
He crawled into the kitchen and came across this toy. I think you could say he liked it.

Action and reaction

What action caused this reaction??

This...

Christian fell out of his bed Sunday night. We had just replaced his monitor in his room that was taken out by some lighting a few months ago. We like to have a monitor is his room even at 3 because it lets us know if he coughs a lot at night and we can treat the cough if we need to. He woke up at 3am crying and crying. I thought it was Archer until I heard "I WANT MY MOMMA!"

Chris and I both ran into his room but he was already back in his bed. I laid with him a minute and he went back to sleep. There was no bruise that I noticed that night, but then again I was sleepy too. The next morning you could see it plain as day. He had a big bruise. Poor guy. On the way home from work Daddy stopped to get him a new bedrail, just incase.

Absence has been noted

My blogging absence has been noted and I apologize. I haven't been on the computer much in the evenings this week. Blogging has taken a back seat to my after work errands, dinner, baths and playtime. We had a slight tragedy this week. We have lost Christian's Diego shoes. They are new as of St. Patrick's day weekend and they are no where to be found. Those are his only tenny shoes that fit, so for Monday he had to wear his "dress shoes" to school and then Tuesday he has to wear his sandals with shoes (GASP)...don't tell Sassy and if she is ready this, I wasn't my idea, I promise, it was out of necessity. On tuesday Christian and I went to the store and replace Diego shoes with Spiderman shoes...oh ya and Iron Man and Transformer socks. He is a very happy camper now. I also bought a pair of backup shoes incase Spiderman decides to go save Diego.

Last weekend we had a great time with the Choate girls aka ...the cousins! Christian is learning who his cousins are. If you ask, they are Abby and Emilie. The girls were in town with Memaw and DoDaddy because Mommy and Daddy were riding in the MS150.

We all had a great time at the Children's Museum on Saturday. Here are those pics.

The Big Event of the weekend was the MS150. Jack, Debbie and Kathie all rode. The rain cancelled the first leg so they only rode on Sunday....which was possibly the windiest day ever! Poor things were fighting the wind the whole time. They said it was brutal. But they all made it in safe and sound.

Happy Easter

This was our first Easter at home in our married life. Every year prior (with one exception when I was in the Easter Musical at Church) we have spent the holiday in Wichita Falls with Gammy. With her passing a few weeks ago, we were a little at a loss with what to do with ourselves. Memaw and Dodaddy were in the same boat so they came here for a visit. We had a wonderful dinner at home on Friday night. Of course it was helped along with our new dining table. It is so great to have a place for everyone.

Saturday we headed to Marble Falls to visit family. Christian had an Easter egg hunt at Gran's. Chris can't decide which holiday yields more candy for Christian, Easter or Halloween...we are leaning towards Easter. Archer didn't participate in the hunt this year. He was cutting his FIRST TOOTH and was busy with that.

Saturday night Chris and I had a date night while the boys stayed home and had fun with Memaw and Dodaddy. We enjoyed a nice quiet dinner. I say quiet, because we always have to say what a change of pace a quiet dinner is. We had time for dinner, a movie and some quick Easter dress shopping for me. I haven't had an Easter dress in maybe 15 years. I thought I was long overdue. We found a really nice one. It was pink and would match Christian's Easter shirt from Grama Nita (or Grama Eata as Christian says it). Chris was requested (by me) to wear blue so he would match Archer and his blue Easter Shirt from Grama Nita. Here is Grama Nita and Archer.

Sunday brought the Easter bunny. Christian slept in a little that morning and even when Chris went in at 7:45 he was still sleeping. We told him he could take his time getting up, then he heard me mention the Easter bunny had stopped by. Then we heard "Daddy, I'm ready to get up!". The Easter Bunny hid eggs in the house this year because of the rain. Several of Christian's action figures were standing guard over the eggs too.
Archer liked shaking the eggs with jelly beans.
Christian loved that his Easter basket contained superhero undies.

Then it was time to get ready for Church. I knew church would be crowded and we were meeting Memaw and Dodaddy there, so we had to get moving. Luckily we were all on time....even with a photo session thrown in.
The boys were in their Easter cutest....pink and blue. Grama thought their shirts looked like easter eggs and I have to agree.

I was really emotional at church. It all started with us walking in as Shane was playing a beautiful trumpet solo as part of the morning service. All the songs and hymns about our risen savior and the sacrifice that was made for me. It was humbling and I felt so grateful for my blessings in life.

After church was lunch with Memaw and Dodaddy.

After Memaw and Dodaddy headed home it was just our little family again. It isn't often that things falls so perfectly in place that everyone naps at the same time but today was one of those perfect days (on many levels)...and naps were enjoyed by all. Not just short little naps, but several hour naps. Glorious naps!

The day was finished off by a trip to the park and the eating of one chocolate bunny. We had been promising Christian all day that he could eat his chocolate bunny after dinner. Well after dinner he was determined to get his bunny. He went around looking for the "bunny chocolate".

It was a wonderful weekend for our family and we hope a wonderful one for your family too.

Christian and Mr. Squirrel

Christian saw a squirrel in front of his school yesterday when we were getting in the car to go home. He ran over to the squirrel and I was sure the squirrel would take off into the trees, not to be seen again until the preschooler was gone.

But this squirrel makes his home at a preschool, so infants/toddlers/preschoolers don't scare him easily. Actually I don't think they scare him at all. I was shocked at how close the squirrel let him get...and mind you Christian was yelling at him. "MR. SQUIRREL!!!!!!!" followed by screams.

Several people noticed this and commented on how close the squirrel was letting him get. Finally I think he had enough and went high up in a tree and I was able to corral Christian to get him in the car with his little brother, who was waiting patiently to get home.

This is another reason I love my little camera. I was able to get all of this on "film".

New table

Our new dining room set is here!!! I went on a little shopping spree this morning at Bed Bath and Beyond and bought a few new things for the table.

Here is the dining room before

And here is a close up of a plate pattern I found and BB&B that I fell in love with. I only bought the two plates for decorative purposes, but I would love to have this whole set.

As a mother of 2 younge children under the age of four, I know the table will only look like this briefly, so I had to take pictures.

It has a leaf that we have in for now, but I have a feeling it will be finding a nice place to rest until we need it.

Katy is already scoping out what chair she wants to make her new home in there.

Little by little

Little by little our house is getting a make over. We made several improvements and bought new appliances last year. This year we are working on a furniture. This is a picture of our new dining table and chairs. Nice, huh?!?

Now we just need to sell our old set. Know anyone that might be interested???

River Fun

This weekend we had some grownup fun while the boys had fun with Aunt Sheri and Gran.

We met up with friends in New Braunfels to float the river. I have to admit I was a little nervous. I haven't floated the river since college and that was a long time ago. This time the water was said to be 58 degrees...now that just sounds COLD.

Well I am happy to report the weather cooperated and it was a beautiful day. The water was chilly but our rafts keep us from getting too wet and therefore too cold.

I wasn't about to take my camera down the river. Luckily Mark and Emmanuelle bought 2 waterproof cameras. Let me take one and the pictures tell a story. Our group was made up of several friends from Houston. Emmanuelle's brother Thomas and girlfriend Melody, were visiting from Paris and this was their first time floating the river.

After floating the river for the afternoon we all went to an authentic German restaurant for some great food. I can honestly say I have never seen my husband each so much food or such a variety of foods. I was very impressed at this, since he might be my pickiest eater.
