Cub Scout day!

Today we accomplished several tiger cub requirements. The first was to visit a police station. In this case we visited a Constables office. Next we delivered Easter decorations to a retirement community.

Track and Field

This week was Christian's Track and Field day at school.  Chris and I both have very fond memories of track and field day when were kids.  We took advantage of the fun and walked around with the class.  It was a rare rainy day, but not rainy enough to stop the fun.

The rock wall was lots of fun!

Waiting his turn
basketball dribble
and bounce pass
working on the dribbling
scooters are so fun
a little rain never hurt a lyon cub
hanging with a buddy
pulling a buddy
sack races

soccer station

octopus tag...get tagged and turn into seaweed
he was pretty fast and never was tagged

mini parachutes...make the bug jump
a little field hockey...his very first time up he made it in the goal...just not the time Momma took the picture.
I think he really enjoyed the day.  When I asked what was his favorite part, he said "ALL OF IT".  Chris and I enjoyed the day walking around helping out the class.

6 years and counting

Dear Christian,
Well big guy your birthday is finally here.  It seems like it took forever didn't it?  You started asking in November if your birthday was tomorrow.  You are such a good boy and make us all very proud.  You are sweet and caring with a very tender heart.

We had some challenges this year and some big firsts!  You started kindergarten and are doing really well.  You are learning to read and you can count by two's and ten's.

We always have fun with our cousins and grandparents.
You and Archer is really great playmates.  There are lots of Batman battles in the living room

You even graduated from pre-school with lots of your buddies!  You have made some wonderful friends in your short 6 years.  You also slide down the big slide at the Kingwood Country Club water park.

Our challenge this year was losing our sweet, sweet Pa.  Oh how he loved you.  He came in every Friday just to see you and have migas with you.  He sure got a lot of love into those 5 and 1/2 years he had with you.  When you started kindergarten he was quick to be the one to pick you up on Friday's after school.  He would go early and be waiting for you.  I don't know who was more excited about Friday afternoons, him or you.   We will miss him so much, but we are lucky we have our memories and pictures to keep us company.
So my little snuggle puppy, I want you to know I love you sooooooooooo much!

Love, Momma

Zoom Zoom

Christian has a new bike.  Well it is new to us.  The Choate family brought us this bike from a good friend of theirs who had out grown it.  It is a perfect fit for Christian.  He names his bike bluejay.

Today, he and Daddy headed out on a bike ride.

And there they go!!!

Swim test

This weekend we went to visit Memaw and DoDaddy and have some play time with our cousins. We all meet up and went to the water park at the country club. There is a BIG SLIDE at the water park. The club makes everyone that slides down the slide take a swim test. We have heard this test was kinda hard. Christian just finished up his swim lessons, but we (his Mom and Dad) were quite sure he was ready for the swim test. The test includes swimming a full lap on the pool and then treading water for 30 seconds. He requested twice to go down the slide.  Two of his cousins have passed the test so it was natural he would want to give it a try. The first time he asked we explained he would have to take the swim test...his reply was"no, I'll go play at the splash pad."  Then a little while later he asked again. Again we explained he would have to take the swim test. This time he said "Fine, I'll try!" (and not in a happy way). So Dad took him over to the big pool to practice. Then the lifeguard came over to administer the test. Christian swam his lap. I didn't get to witness all this because I was hanging with Mister ARcher in the kiddie pool. While Christian was swimming his lap other kids in the pool were swimming along side him cheering him on with "you can do it....you are almost there"....very cool.

After he swam his one lap, the life guard told him to treadwater for 30 seconds. The lifegurad didn't care if he swam in a circle or just stayed in place, so Christian just swam another lap!! WOW. I have to say the everyone involved realized what a milestone this was. CHRISTIAN PASSED THE SWIM TEST!!! Chris and I can't stop talking about it and telling Christian how impressed we are.
