6 years and counting

Dear Christian,
Well big guy your birthday is finally here.  It seems like it took forever didn't it?  You started asking in November if your birthday was tomorrow.  You are such a good boy and make us all very proud.  You are sweet and caring with a very tender heart.

We had some challenges this year and some big firsts!  You started kindergarten and are doing really well.  You are learning to read and you can count by two's and ten's.

We always have fun with our cousins and grandparents.
You and Archer is really great playmates.  There are lots of Batman battles in the living room

You even graduated from pre-school with lots of your buddies!  You have made some wonderful friends in your short 6 years.  You also slide down the big slide at the Kingwood Country Club water park.

Our challenge this year was losing our sweet, sweet Pa.  Oh how he loved you.  He came in every Friday just to see you and have migas with you.  He sure got a lot of love into those 5 and 1/2 years he had with you.  When you started kindergarten he was quick to be the one to pick you up on Friday's after school.  He would go early and be waiting for you.  I don't know who was more excited about Friday afternoons, him or you.   We will miss him so much, but we are lucky we have our memories and pictures to keep us company.
So my little snuggle puppy, I want you to know I love you sooooooooooo much!

Love, Momma

Sweet memories

Now I may have been too young to remember making this tape, but I remember listening too it often as a child.

The history of the tape is that we made it for my Paw Paw and Matilda in North Carolina for Christmas 1974.  I was 2, almost 3 years old.  My sister was 11 and my brother was 13.  Thanks to some editing help from Shane, I was able to extract this little piece from the hour long tape.  Now you all may not want to listen to the whole hour, but since I haven't heard my Dad's voice in almost 18 years....I cherish the whole hour.  Props to my Mom for holding on to this for all these years and extra special props for making it in the first place.  See before the age of facebook you actually have to gather your family around a little black box and have a conversation with someone miles and miles away.  Tough to do, but 38 years later, it makes for amazing memories.  So thanks again Mom....Love you!

Take time to be a Dad

The boys saw this sign in the mall and had to have their picture taken with Simba. I made Chris enjoy them because it was just too cute a photo op.

The boys must have been pretty good this year.  Both got game systems from Santa. Christian a 3DS and Archer a Leapfrog leapster
They also both received a game and a lego set.

 Then the gaming started.

I tried funny pancakes with whipped cream, but the excite of the morning was too much and they just sat there...uneaten

It was a fun but tiring day!
