A simple request

For the last two night Christian has been asking me to make an apple pie. I guess this comes from his lesson about Apple Annie.
Chris has told him they can go buy an apple pie, but he was set on making one (good for him).
So what is a good mother to do, you ask??? Well you do this...

1. You call your mother and ask her for a quick apple pie recipe since none of your cookbooks seems to have a plain jane recipe for apple pie.
2. You send your husband and oldest child to the store to buy a pie crust, now the pie crust wasn't from scratch, but I was working on a deadline here.
3. Then as soon as he walks out the door you realize you don't have a pie pan, not a single solitary one.
4. So you call him, but he doesn't answer.
5. You cross your fingers he is a crust already in a tin pan.
6. While husband and son are at grocery store you attempt to entertain EXTREME cranky 1 year old and distract him with his favorite snack, saltine crackers.
7. He sits, semi-patiently, in his high chair watching you frantically cut up apples, mix in butter, flour, dash of salt, sugar, apple pie spice and apple juice.
8. Score one for the husband! He doesn't answer his cell phone but he does get a package with 2 crusts already in the pie tin.
9. The youngest who requested apple pie assists you in pouring pie filling into one pie pan.
10. You quickly dump the second crust on top of the filling.
11. You poke a few holes.
12. You throw on a quick egg wash.
13. You sprinkle with sugar and apple pie spice.
14. The whole family sits down for dinner and you wait....and your three year old waits...and keeps asking for his apple pie.

Not the prettiest pie in the world, but it was good.

And what is apple pie with out Homemade Vanilla Bluebell. Well is almost isn't worth mentioning with out the ice cream to the men in this family.

And all of this is done before bedtime....score one for the good mom!

 

P.S. - If Santa is reading this post, a pie pan in my stocking would be greatly appreciated.

Mr. Independent

Look at the big boy walking all around the house.


Not much slows him down.
Here he is doing his best bronc busting impression on his "wild" zebra.

He has even taken to trying to help Daddy do the dishes.

Kid at heart

Aren't we all just kids at heart. This big kid just got a new gaming system (PS3) and a new blue tooth gaming headset and his childhood friend Mark has the same set up. They can play games via the internet and talk to each other. How cool is that?!?!?

Chris says he never had a gaming console as a kid and now as adults we have two in our house. The Wii (I am the main one that use this one) and the PS3. The PS3 plays blue ray DVDs and now serves at our DVD player. It is a pretty cool set up with the 50 inch plasm.

Work and Play

It was a work day at our house on friday evening and Saturday. The boys were off getting spoiled with Gran and Pa and Mom and Dad were at home making the most of their kid free time with lots of chores.

First was the yard. We cleaned out the flower bed and added mulch. I replanted my overgrown Aloe Vera in the flower bed around the tree too.



It looks much better.

Then on Saturday we rode our bikes to breakfast.

Rainy morning

This is Christian trying out his rain poncho. Auntie Tal brought this to him last year after she went to Ireland. Isn't it cute?!?! He liked it, but kept saying he didn't have any arms. Guess Mom might have to add a couple of arm holes for him.

The BUMP, more follow-up

Remember the BUMP? We have the ultrasound results and it is a benign lymph node. So for now we watch and wait.

Baby Natalie...more prayer please

Little Baby Natalie is in surgery and needs some prayer. She is having a shunt put in her little heart. Please keep the Bunn family and little Natalie in your prayers.

Uncle JJ brought the boys cool new shirts. Christian's is really fun with little tools that snap on it.

The Bump - ultrasound

Remember "the Bump" from 2 weeks ago? Well today we went to Dell Chrildren's hospital to get an ultrasound of it. Since Daddy is a Seton employee, we went to the cafeteria for a little snack. Christian couldn't help but sing "Apple Annie" the entire time he was holding this apple. Then later after he had eaten some of it, he told me "I ate Apple Annie's bottom off." LOL! The things kids will say.

Spiney

Christian has been asking for "spiney" hair, not spikey, but spiney. Shortly after I did this to his hair, he decided he wanted to wear his hat to school. I will try and not take it personally.

Natalie update

There was no surgery for little Natalie today. See the post under my Blog Roll to the right side over there, The Bunn Family. Her Momma, Libby, gave an update. This little girl sounds like a fighter. She still needs lots of prayer.

Hook 'Em

From Hook Em

The boys are showing off their new UT apparel for the football season. Christian thought Archer needed the addition of a super hero cape. At first I was just going to take a picture of Christian by himself and then Archer. But Christian wanted Archer in the picture too. He was very sweet and went over and asked Archer is a very gentle voice "Archer, you wanna stand up?". So we both helped Archer to his feet for the picture.

After I took the picture Christian told me"Mommy Archer didn't say CHEESE!" I say "No, he had his mouth full." That is the reason for Archer's slightly dazed look in this picture.

New wheels

Dad has been dreaming of getting this special bike for Christian. It is called a glider bike or a hot walk bike. It doesn't have any pedals. The idea is the child learns balance on the bike first and after he is comfortable with that, you get him a bike with pedals. We went out to test drive a few this weekend.

First the sit needed to be adjusted a little.

Then the super hero friends, Batman and Spidey needed to be put in the pockets.

Then we were off on our test drive. Christian is still warming up to the idea of this glider bike. He knows he has seem other bikes with pedals, so he isn't sure about this one, yet. If we didn't just buy Christian a new bike, we definitely bought Archer a new bike.

Before and After (part 4)

I'm not sure how many times we have organized our garage, so I'm guessing when I say this is part 4. It always seems to be a work in progress. Chris' latest organizational tool is this new bar where you can add different types of hooks and hangers. He put it up this weekend. We can now store both our bikes in the garage. We still can't park both cars in the garage, but we are getting closer. I also installed the small shelf above the freezer so we can hang our clothes again.

Apple Annie

They are learning the letter "A" in school this week. Here is a little song Christian just started singing on the car ride to the Dr. office. It kept us entertained while in the Dr. office...good thing I had my camera. This is by far his most animated version, but he is usually this "busy" all the time.
