Karate Kid

A new adventure started for the Wenck Family today.   Karate.  Christian attended his very first class.  When we asked this summer if he wanted to play soccer again his reply was "No, I want to learn karate."  So here we go....
He was allowed to sound the gong to start class today.
He learned some new Japanese words.
Here he is learning how to hold a plank position

 learning some kicks
I was very impressed how well he listen to his teachers and followed their directions.
Part of the class was an obstacle course.

 Here he is learning blocks.
He really enjoyed his first class and I think we will be taking Karate for awhile.

Now we just need to find an activity for Archer.  Archer does attend kindergym which is great.  He has really wanted to attend swim classes with Bubba and now I think he will want to start karate.  He has to wait about a year for karate at this facility.  Chris tried to arrange a special Archer swim time today at the local pool in the park near our house.  They walked up there only to find the pool was closed.  Archer was NOT happy about this situation (read - MAJOR MELTDOWN!!!)  Poor little guy.  When Christian and I made it back home the whole family packed up and went swimming instead.  All was good and you didn't notice the 100+ degree heat in the pool.
