(Christian let me take these pictures tonight, his last night as a 4 year old.)
Anyway, here we are 5 years later...living the good life. It is never dull and rarely very slow. But it is a great life. Christian is 5 and "a big boy now" according to him. Ready for soccer school and big boy school. The #1 thing he is most excited about though is a visit to the Lego's Store in the mall. We promised that on his actual birthday we would take him there and let him pick out a present. He has his site on something Batman related, surprising I know. So back to Brad Paisley for a minute. He has a song on his latest album called anything like me about having a son. I see so much of myself in Christian and so much of Chris too. Christian is starting to really talk with his hands..that is totally me. He doesn't like vegetables...that is totally Chris (sorry honey couldn't resist). God has a wonderful way to "paying back" the children for what they did to the parents. He has really out done himself with Chris and I with Christian.
Here are the lyrics to the song. You can see my comments in (bold)
Anything like me
Brad Paisley
I remember saying I don't care either way
Just as long as he or she is healthy I'm ok
Then the doctor pointed to the corner of the screen
And said "You see that thing right there well you know what that means"
And I started wondering who he was going to be
And I thought heaven help us if he's anything like me
He'll probably climb a tree too tall and ride his bike to fast (this is like his dad)
End up every summer wearing something in a cast (another one like his dad)
He's gonna throw a ball and break some glass in a window down the street
He's gonna get in trouble oh he's gonna get in fights (this one is both of us)
I'm gonna lose my temper and some sleep (this one is me)
It's safe to say that I'm gonna get my payback if he's anything like me (this is where God is laughing at us and enjoying this)
I can see him right now knees all skinned up
With a magnifying glass trying to melt a Tonka truck (if you know Christian, can't you see him doing this, I can)
Won't he be a sight with his football helmet on
That'll be his first love til his first love comes along
He'll get his heart broke by the time he's in his teens
And heaven help him if he's anything like me
He'll probably stay out too late and drive his car too fast (this is both of us)
Get a speeding ticket he'll pay for mowing grass
He's gonna get caught skipping class and be grounded for a week (this might be only his dad...because I never skipped school)
He's gonna get in trouble we're gonna get in fights
I'm gonna lose my temper and some sleep
It's safe to say that I'm gonna get my payback if he's anything like me
He's gonna love me and hate me along the way
Years are gonna fly by I already dread the day
He's gonna hug his momma, he's gonna shake my hand
He's gonna act like he cant wait to leave
But as he drives out he'll cry his eyes out (now this part gets me teary eyed and I always make Christian and Archer promise to cry when they leave home)
If he's anything like me there's worse folks to be like
Aw he'll be alright if he's anything like me (yeah this is both of us too)
I'm working on a video slideshow...coming soon.
In the mean time...Happy Birthday to my wonderful big little boy. We love you so much!!!!
