Road Trip

We are a road trip family.  I think it comes from both Chris and I taking lots of road trips with our families growing up.  We have road tripped to Colorado 5 times now.  This was our first official winter trip.  We packed extra warms clothes, socks, snow boots, gloves, you name it, we packed it.

We even pack Chris' barista coffee marker...all the comforts of home.

This trip the boys had the extra added feature of trays.  They were GREAT.

They came in so handy for keeping them entertained on the road. Things didn't fall off Archer's tray as easy and Christian has a place to color and play race cars and super heroes.

We got an early start for our trip

If I haven't mentioned it before...my boys are spoiled..spoiled by both sets of grandparents and all their aunts, uncles...well you know it and they are spoiled by them.

Gran made each boy a special bag of goodies as well as a BIG snack bag.
Christian bag came with somethig called SURPRISE INK.  Surprise was right when I looked back and saw this.

Oh I didn't get mad at him...these are just the little things that make trips like this memoriable.  And it was all very washable.

The bad news was the food poisoning.  Yes, both Chris and I ate something that did not agree with us.  As soon as we arrived to our hotel Friday night, Chris started throwing up...and throwing up, and throwing up. Luckily we were the only ones to eat the bad food.  I never threw up, but wanted to several times.  We made it through the night and got an early start the next day.

We arrived in Pagosa just before 11 on Saturday.  We were so lucky because my cousin Stacy and her husband Tommy were in Pagosa at the house and left it open for us.  We knew this would be great for us, little did we know HOW great this would be.  Since we had never been in the middle of winter we didn't know everything that would be required because of the snow. That is all the stuff Stacy has taken care of.  She is a PRO  at the house in the winter.  She had cleared paths for us, had the house clean and warm....so nice and warm... and a fire in the fire place ready to be started.

It was go great and we can't thank her and her husband Tommy enough for scheduling the switch with us.  With the food poisoning on top of the long drive with 2 small children...it meant the world to us that they accomodated us this way. They are great!!!! I just wish I had a picture of Stacy and I at the house together.  Believe it or not, I didn't have easy access to a camera...shocking, I know.

Stacy and I used to visit Daddy Pop and Lois together as kids, but we haven't been to the house together in well over 20 years. We both lead busy lives with work and kids, so we don't get to see each other much these days.  It was great to see her, even if it was for a short little time.

So that is the tail of our road trip up....more to come
