Decision made for me

I have been wrestling with the decision to vaccinate my children for the H1N1 virus. I say wrestling because I'm wary of the new vaccine. I also say "I:" here because my husband isn't wrestling as much as me on this topic.   Just because it is new and these are my babies. But we do vaccine our children (our personal choice). The more I hear about how quickly this flu can come on the more I want to get the shot for them...then I hear that many, many cases are very mild and not much different from the season flu. All of these things fill up my head. BUT the flu manufacturers seem to be making my decision for me.

Here is what I mean.

1st vaccine available is flu mist - the recommendation is for children over 2 (Archer is out) and not for children with underlying conditions (Christian's asthma takes him out of this group)
2nd type of vaccine to be made available (my pedi says in the next 2 weeks) - is a injectible with mercury. My pedi's office will only give this shot to children over 5 years old. (so both my kids are again out of the loop)

Now the kicker to all this is both my children fall in to HIGH RISK category per the CDC. Children 2 and under (Archer) Children under 2-4 with underlying conditions (like asthma).  But they are the last in line to have a shot that will work for them.  weird....

These are just things in my head that I had to get out :)

Hey, a friend of mine that's a doctor, and completely paranoid about everything with her kids, said that you can call around and ask for flu shots that don't contain the mercury. not sure where or who, but might ask around.
